Mustard Seeds
What are Mustard Seeds?
Mustard Seeds are the small round seeds of various mustard plants. There are three different plants which produce the seed: white/yellow mustard, black mustard and brown Indian mustard. By grinding and mixing the seeds with vinegar, water and other ingredients, this creates the yellow condiment, known as prepared mustard.
Where do Mustard Seeds Come From?
Mustard grows well in temperate climates. It is mainly grown in Asia, North America and Europe. In India, one of the leading producers of Mustard Seeds, they are primarily grown in the Northwest region where roughly 48% of total production comes from. Mustard Seeds are a rich source of oil and protein.
